Event narrative

Most WYDOT sites between Rawlins and Arlington reported prolonged and widespread very strong wind gusts of 65 to 88 MPH. Peak wind gust of 88 MPH measured at WYDOT site at Halleck Ridge, northwest of Elk Mountain.

Wider weather episode

A potent jet stream moved over Wyoming and the high plains resulting in another round of strong gusty winds, and occasionally very strong winds across the wind prone areas of southeast Wyoming. Gusts of 60 to 70 MPH were common, with some gusts as high as 88 MPH.
