Event narrative

Light snow fell across Huntingdon County throughout the morning of December 2, with much of the county seeing 1 to 3 inches of snow. A commercial vehicle traveling on Pennsylvania Route 453 slid off the road and hit an embankment in Warriors Mark Township, closing the road from Kettle/Pemberton Road to Shovel Works Road. Approximately 100 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled and the road was closed for approximately 2 hours.

Wider weather episode

Surface trough across the Mid-Atlantic continue to progress northeastward during the late evening hours of December 1st and lifting into central Pennsylvania during the early morning hours of December 2nd. Initial moisture was very limited, which allowed for snowfall to hold off and begin during the early morning hours of December 2nd, continuing into the afternoon hours before the trough and better moisture returns moved northeast of the area. As the first widespread snowfall of the season, multiple accidents were reported across central Pennsylvania, closing multiple high-speed roadways for over four hours. No injuries were reported despite the accidents.
