PennDOT sensor I-79 at Mile Marker 86 measured less than quarter mile visibility in a snow squall.
Wider weather episode
Convective snow showers developed along an early morning cold front sweeping west to east across the region. The strongest convergence along the front and mid-level forcing was north of Pittsburgh where impactful snow squalls resulted in visibility reduction to a quarter mile or less and a quick accumulation of snow on roadways.
