Event narrative
The Upper Chena Dome SNOTEL (UCEA2) site reported a 24 hour total snow depth change of 9 inches from the early afternoon of November 21st into the early afternoon of November 22nd. The period of heaviest snowfall was between 6 AM and 8 AM on the 22nd when 3 inches of snow fell in a period of only 2 hours.
Wider weather episode
A broad and cold trough tracked over Interior Alaska from the Bering and lingered over the region for several days. As several upper lows rotated through the trough, one that entered the eastern Interior from the Yukon managed to bring a fair amount of moisture with it resulting in a couple of days of steady and sometimes heavy snowfall across Alaska's interior.
