Wider weather episode

Low pressure crossed northern Maine through the 10th into the early morning hours of the 11th drawing a warm front north across the region. Overrunning snow developed during the afternoon of the 10th...which persisted into the early morning hours of the 11th. The greatest snow totals occurred in area from northern Piscataquis...across northern Penobscot...to eastern portions of Aroostook counties. Snow totals in that region generally ranged from 4 to 7 inches...with local totals up to around 8 inches. Across interior Downeast areas a light wintry mix transitioned to rain...with snow accumulations ranging from around 2 to 4 inches. Precipitation was mostly in the form of rain along the Downeast coast. An upper level disturbance then crossed the region during the 11th producing an additional 1 to 2 inches of snow across northern Maine. A tightening pressure gradient between the exiting low intensifying across the Maritimes and building high pressure contributed to gusty winds and blowing snow across northern Maine during the 11th.
