The Colby Airport AWOS reported a gust of 56 mph. The mesonet station at 2 ENE Colby reported a gust of 63 mph. An emergency manager reported a semi blown over along I-70 near Brewster.

Wider weather episode

A strong cold front moved through northwest Kansas on the evening of the 15th. Multiple wind gusts ranging from 58 mph - 63 mph were recorded. Multiple reports of blowing dust with less than 1/2 - 1/4 mile visibility reported. A wildfire was detected via satellite and confirmed with local emergency management.
