Additional, another male in Colleyville died when he fell through a frozen pond.

Wider weather episode

The only winter weather event of the season occurred January 23-25. A mix of sleet and snow fell across the region, but sleet was the predominant precipitation type. The highest sleet and snow totals were north of Interstate 20, and the highest freezing rain totals were in our far eastern counties. In addition to the wintry precipitation, bitterly cold air accompanied the system meeting Extreme Cold Warning criteria through the 27th. Unfortunately 8 deaths were reported with this event.
