The public reported penny-sized hail.

Wider weather episode

Although a broad upper ridge continued across most of the southern states, a weakness in the upper ridge was noted across Georgia. Weak, unstable northwest flow was also noted across Georgia, while a warm, moist, unstable air mass continued at the surface. Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms developed during the afternoon across east central Georgia producing damaging downburst winds and nickel to quarter-sized hail.
