A deep surface low tracked through the Columbia Basin. As it moved east into Idaho strong west to southwest winds brought damaging winds to much of eastern Washington. Numerous trees and power lines were blown down by the strong winds. Several schools started late or were cancelled due to the winds. The most substantial damage occurred over the Washington Palouse. At the Colfax airport, an aircraft was flipped over. A semi truck was pushed off highway 95 nine miles north of Colfax. In Pullman, Washington State University reported several buildings with roof damage with several windows broken. Elsewhere in Pomeroy, a wind gust of 87 mph was recorded. In Garfield, part of a school roof was blown over by the winds. In Spokane, a large tree branch went through the front windshield of a vehicle.
