United States Army Corps of Engineers Field Research Facility pier in Duck observed a 36 knot marine wind gust.

A mesoscale convective complex developed during the early afternoon hours of June 29th across the Midwestern states of Indiana and Ohio. The MCS produced a derecho that pushed east-southeast across West Virginia, Virginia, and Northern North Carolina during the evening of the 29th and early on the 30th. A few strong marine thunderstorm wind gusts were reported.
