Thunderstorms developed along a weak surface trough across central Virginia due to intense diurnal heating during the afternoon hours on June 30th. Showers and thunderstorms pushed southeast across northeastern North Carolina and produced marine thunderstorm wind gusts across the northern Outer Banks.
