A thunderstorm formed over the Wind River Basin and moved north over the Owl Creek Mountains producing a 63 mph wind gust at an automated station on Boysen Peak.
Wider weather episode
A frontal boundary moving north ahead of a low pressure system caused high-based thunderstorms with strong outflow wind. Severe wind gusts were common across the northwest quarter of Wyoming.
