Event narrative

Multiple trees were blown down across roads as a line of heavy rain showers and embedded thunderstorms moved across the county.

Wider weather episode

A slow moving line of thunderstorms crossed all of western North Carolina during the afternoon and evening hours. The storms developed along a strong cold front. Despite their slow movement, the storms were able to mix down strong environmental winds, causing areas of straight line wind damage, especially in the mountains.
