A strong upper level jet streak passing south through Florida propelled a cold front into the Florida peninsula, resulting in several hours of freezing temperatures over the Nature Coast. Isolated spots in central Florida had an hour or two of freezing temperatures. No significant crop damage was reported.
Interior Levy county had 3 to 4 hours of freezing temperatures. A few stations had an hour or two of hard freezing conditions. The coldest temperature reported was 27 degrees at the Chiefland COOP site.
Interior Citrus county had 3 to 4 hours of freezing temperatures, with isolated cold spots recording up to 7 hours. A few stations had an hour or two of hard freezing conditions. The coldest temperature reported was 27 degrees at the Crystal River AWOS (CGC).
