Event narrative

Training thunderstorms brought very heavy rain to the Fernley area during the afternoon and evening of the 4th. Flash flooding caused a 10 ft sinkhole to form near the intersection of Cable Canyon Rd and Seabiscuit Dr.

Wider weather episode

Near record to record high temperatures with strong to severe thunderstorms caused strong outflow winds with dust storms, large hail and very heavy rain from the 1st through the 4th.
