Widespread heavy rainfall from very slow-moving thunderstorms produced generalized 2 to 3 inch amounts from Fredericksburg to Austin to Lexington to Seguin, San Antonio, Bandera, Kerrville and back to Fredericksburg. Isolated rain totals of up to 6 inches were reported between San Antonio and Boerne, with 5 inch amounts between Boerne, Kerrville, and Bandera. Isolated 5 inch totals were also reported between New Braunfels and San Marcos. There were 82 high water rescues in San Antonio during the flooding. The city used its recently constructed water diversion tunnel to prevent flooding within the city itself. Numerous rescues were also reported across the greater Austin metropolitan area as well. In Gillespie County, a man aged 51 was drowned near 1700CST after being swept off a bridge near where the Pedernales River crosses US 290 in the southern part of the county. He was riding in truck when it stalled in high water on the bridge. He abandoned the vehicle to go to safety and was swept off his feet and drowned. The truck remained on the bridge.
