A backcountry traveler observed penny sized hail that accumulated to a depth of several inches near Union Peak.
Wider weather episode
Afternoon thunderstorms developed over the mountains of Teton County and were steered into Sublette County by northwest flow aloft. The storms tracked parallel to and along the Continental Divide in the Wind River Mountains. One of the storms produced copious amounts of penny sized hail.
