Event narrative

Runoff from up to 11 inches of rain in much of central and northern Leon County flowed downstream into the southern part of the county, and caused extensive flooding of the Cascade Lakes, Liberty Ridge and Lake Bradford subdivisions, as well as the Munson Slough basin. Floodwaters, rising at a rate of a foot per hour initially, closed numerous roads including Tomberlin, Oak Ridge and State Road 61 north of Oak Ridge Road. Of the nearly 100 homes affected, 19 single-family dwellings, five mobile homes and 18 apartments were damaged. Within a few days, water levels eased, then began to slowly recede. The American Red Cross set up a shelter in Woodville for evacuees, many who were isolated and unable to use water wells or septic tanks. A boil order was issued for the affected areas. Reported by the Leon County EMA and Florida DEM.
