Winter storm brought heavy snow and strong winds to the mountains of western Montana. Heavy snow began in the late afternoon of March 11 and lasted for 24 hours. Locally strong wind gusts over 50 mph occurred in the morning of March 12. Snowfall ranged from 6 to 8 inches just above 4000 feet, with one to two feet reported over the higher elevations. Highest snowfall amounts recorded were 16 inches at Badger Pass and 17 inches at Flattop Mountain in Flathead County. 24 inches of new snow was recorded at Hoodoo Basin in Mineral County.
