The Towns County 911 Center reported 1/2 inch of snow in the Hiawassee area.

An strong and cold early-season upper-level low dug out of the Ohio Valley into the southern Appalachians bringing an unusually early snowfall to the North Georgia mountains. Light rain showers across North Georgia on Halloween evening began to mix with or change to snow by midnight November 1st. By mid-morning on the 1st many locations in the North Georgia mountains had received generally between a trace and 1 inch of snow, with a few locations in the higher elevations reporting up to 2 inches. Due to warm ground conditions roads across the majority of this area remained clear, with some slushy conditions reported at higher elevations.
