Highlands County Emergency Management reported that the metal roof of a screened in porch had been torn off and part of a fence downed by thunderstorm wind gusts near Lake Chilton in Avon Park.

Wider weather episode

A line of thunderstorms moved through the Florida peninsula ahead of a cold front early on the morning of the 24th. One of these storms caused a short lived tornado in southern Sarasota County.
