Strong high pressure moved into Wyoming and tightened the surface pressure gradient across northern Utah. Strong canyon winds developed along the Wasatch Front due to this pattern. The northeast-east sustained wind speeds averaged from 35-45 mph (30-39 kts). A spotter on the Bountiful Bench reported a peak wind of 49 mph (43 kts), while an off-duty forecaster measured 48 mph (42 kts) in Centerville.
