Heavy snow developed in and near the Front Range Foothills, effectively ending any drought concerns in the immediate future. Heavy wet snow wreaked havoc on power lines in Douglas and Elbert Counties. Scattered outages were reported at Parker, Franktown, Larkspur, Sedalia and Castle Rock. Some residents were without electricity for as long as 20 hours. The inclimate weather was blamed, at least in part, for several accidents along the Interstate 25 Corridor, between Denver and Castle Rock.In the mountains and foothills, snowfall totals included: 36 inches, 3 miles north of Alma and 1 mile east of Buckhorn Mountain, 32 inches at Idaho Springs, 31 inches at Crowhill, 29 inches, 4 miles south of Evergreen, 26 inches at Chief Hosa and Coal Creek Canyon, 25 inches at Bailey and 11 miles southwest of Morrison, 24 inches at Floyd Hill and 3 miles north of Shawnee, 23 inches at Conifer, Genessee, Golden Gate Canyon, North Turkey Creek and Pine Junction, 22 inches, 3 miles north of Blackhawk and Wondervu, with 20 inches at Aspen Springs and 7 miles east-northeast of Virginia Dale, with amounts from 12 to 18 inches elsewhere. Along the I-25 Corridor, snowfall amounts included: 15 inches, 4 miles northwest of Larkspur, 13 inches at Broomfield and 5 miles south-southeast of Sedalia, 12 inches at Boulder, 11 inches at Louisville and Parker with 9 inches reported at the National Weather Service Office in Denver.
