Event narrative

A strong upper level low pressure system moved through southwest Colorado and caused deep moisture and upslope winds, bringing heavy snow in the southeast mountains and adjacent plains. Snow amounts ranged from 1 inch to 6.5 inches over northern El Paso county, with Monument receiving the 6.5 snow total. Three to 8 inches of snow was tallied in Teller county, with areas near Cripple Creek receiving the 8 inch snow total. In Huerfano county, Walsenburg received 7 inches of snow while Cuchara reported 8.3 inches of snow. Aguilar in Las Animas county received 6 inches of snow. The highest snow amounts from this event fell in the Wet Mountains where Rye reported 6 inches of snow...Beulah had 7 inches of snow and Aspen Acres Campground, located near San Isabel, received 9.5 inches of snow.
