Event narrative

A person from a gas station in Pierce remarked that it snowed so much that they had to constantly shovel at their house. They received an estimated 10 inches in the overnight period. The Crater Meadows SNOTEL at 5960 ft. reported 15 inches of snow during this period while 8 inches was reported in Elk River.

Wider weather episode

A low pressure system and associated strong jet brought winds and snow to much of the Northern Rockies. This snowfall occurred during the pre-holiday period which elevated the impact to travel.
