The Granite Island Light measured a peak northwest wind gust of 56 knots during the extended period of storm force winds. Waves of 24 feet were recorded at a buoy near the island.

A strong low pressure system tracking over the Upper Great Lakes produced storm force winds over portions of Lake Superior from the evening of the 18th into the 19th.
