An upper level disturbance interacting with an unseasonably cold air mass resulted in light to moderate snow overspreading the North Carolina mountains late on the 11th, continuing through the overnight hours before tapering off on the morning of the 12th. Total snowfall accumulation generally ranged from 1-3 inches. However, some locations received as much as 5 inches, particularly near the South Carolina border.
