Event narrative

The Sumter County Emergency Manager reported trees blown down from around the intersection of Highways 153 and 30 to Mallon Road. A house was hit by a falling tree on Mallon road. No injuries were reported.

Wider weather episode

A strong short wave and associated surface low swept through the southern and eastern U.S. and combined with moderate instability and strong shear resulted in widespread severe weather, including numerous tornadoes, across north and central Georgia from late morning through the afternoon.
