Event narrative

County comms reported numerous trees and power lines blown down across the county.

Wider weather episode

Scattered to numerous thunderstorms developed over the high terrain of western North Carolina during the afternoon, then moved steadily southeast across the valleys and the foothills. A few of these storms produced locally damaging winds. This was followed by a decaying line of strong to severe storms that moved into the mountains from East Tennessee during the evening, which was responsible for wind damage that was more widespread, mainly for the counties along the state line.
