Thunderstorm winds blew down the tops out of several pine trees and uprooted several oak trees along Route 624.
Wider weather episode
A hot and humid air mass combined with an approaching cold front to spark isolated severe thunderstorms during the afternoon. These storms blew down several trees in southwest Virginia. Two houses were damaged by fallen trees in Franklin County, and lightning struck a barn and a garage that set them on fire.
