Event narrative
A stream gauge reported and NWS employee confirmed minor flooding developed along the Little Tennessee River in Macon County after 2.5 to 4 inches of rain fell in the basin in a 24 to 36 hour period. Roads impacted by flood water included Shady Ln, Sam Corn Rd, Riverside Rd, and Old Dairy Rd.
Wider weather episode
Rain developed in association with a cold front during the evening of the 21st and continued for much of the following 24 hours across western North Carolina, with total rainfall amounts ranging from 3 to 4 inches across the southern mountains to around 2 inches in the Piedmont. This resulted in minor flooding along several streams.
