Wider weather episode

An upper level disturbance moved through a hot and humid airmass, which sparked off strong to severe thunderstorms for much of the region. These storms resulted in numerous reports of trees and power lines down, with about 20,000 people without power. A microburst was also confirmed in Malta, NY.
