AWOS station KMIS Main Pass 140B measured sustained winds of 36 knots at 2315Z with several hours of gusts above tropical storm force throughout the marine zone. Instrument height of 279 ft AGL.

Wider weather episode

Tropical Storm Nestor originated as a tropical disturbance in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico as Potential Tropical Cyclone Sixteen. The storm quickly picked up speed and drifted north, then northeast well offshore coastal southeastern Louisiana. The storm continued its movement to the northeast making landfall along the Florida Peninsula on Saturday, October 19th. Main impacts to Louisiana marine zones were strong winds, with far outer gulf marine zones reaching sustained winds of tropical storm force. Near coastal marine zones did experience gusts at or above tropical storm force.
