Heavy Snow — Northern Coos, New Hampshire
2019-11-11 to 2019-11-12 · Northern Coos, New Hampshire
Event narrative
Light precipitation on the evening of the 11th tapered off many locations as the mid level warm front lifted north of the area for a time. Northern Coos County remained close enough to the lift aloft and cold enough at the surface that light snow continued for the majority of the event. By mid morning on the 12th the boundary was sinking back south as a cold front, bringing an end to steady snowfall. Total snowfall accumulations ranged from 4 to 7 inches.
Wider weather episode
A cold front was plunging across much of the continental United States on November 11th. A slowly advancing portion of that front was draped across the region east of the Mississippi River through the Ohio River Valley and into the Northeast. During the day on the 11th a wave developed on that front and moved northeast. This helped to lift the boundary back north as a warm front and spread light precipitation over the region. Light snow broke out over northern New England in the evening and continued into midday on the 12th before tapering off.
