A strong upper level low pressure system crossed the central Appalachians on the 2nd leading to generally light snow. A moderate to heavy band of snow developed as a piece of energy dug down on the back side of the upper low. This led to heavy snow across a fairly small area, southeastern Webster and Nicholas Counties. A social media report from near Parcoal, in Webster County, showed 7 inches of snow had fallen by late on the 2nd. A government official at Nettie, in Nicholas County, measured 6 inches of snow.
