Event narrative
The Emergency Manager reported water over the road at Sheldon Street and 6th Avenue. A drainage ditch had to be cleared. Radar estimates indicate that 3 to 5 inches of rain quickly accumulated over the area, causing the issue.
Wider weather episode
During the afternoon and evening hours of Saturday, October 19th, the post-tropical remains of what was once Tropical Storm Nestor swept across south Georgia bringing moderate winds, isolated severe thunderstorms and flash flooding to portions of north and central Georgia. A brief, isolated tornado was confirmed in central Georgia.
