Lake-Effect Snow — Southern Erie, Pennsylvania

Event narrative
A trough of low pressure entered the eastern Great Lakes region on the afternoon of December 10th and allowed for a west-to-east lake effect snow band to set up over portions of Northwest Pennsylvania. This band of snow was relatively short-lived during the evening hours of the 10th. However, in its short duration, this band dumped almost 10 inches of snow in portions of Erie County in under 12 hours. After a short break during the morning of the 11th, more lake effect snow returned to portions of Erie County and additional light accumulations were noted over the region. The maximum snow for this event was 13 inches in Greenfield Township. Other selected event totals include: 12 inches in Greene Township, 11 inches in Colt Station, 9.5 inches in North East Township and Millcreek Township, 7.3 inches in Wattsburg, and 7 inches in Summit Township.
