The wind sensor along the Chief Joseph highway measured several wind gusts of hurricane force, including a maximum gust of 86 mph.
Wider weather episode
A strong pressure gradient ahead of an approaching winter storm brought high winds to portions of central Wyoming. Some of the notable wind gusts included 86 mph along the Chief Joseph Highway and 75 mph south of Casper, Wyoming.
