In Huntersville, Knapps Creek rose out of its 9 foot bankfull level and resulted in high water in low lying spots along the creek. The creek crested at around 9.5 feet late in the morning before returning to its banks that afternoon.

Wider weather episode

An upper level disturbance perusing through the middle Ohio Valley inflicted rounds of showers and thunderstorms across West Virginia on the afternoon of the 14th. Localized areas received more than 4 inches of rain in a short amount of time in the southeast portions of the state, leading to flooding and swift water rescues. Nearly 20 home and car rescues ensued by rescue teams that evening. the governor of West Virginia declared a state of emergency in Fayette County, which deployed state highway workers to clean up debris and repair damage in the Oak Hill and Minden areas.
