Wider weather episode
A typical summertime afternoon regime was present over Central Alabama with steep low level lapse rates and high surface based CAPE values. A tropical system was located over the northwestern Gulf of Mexico and this produced an enhanced sea-breeze boundary that pushed northward into the southern portions of Central Alabama. The sea-breeze boundary collided with a line of storms moving westward from Georgia and produced isolated strong to severe storms.
