Event narrative
A roof was blown off a house. Several pine trees were blown down, along with some fencing. The very strong wind gusts lasted roughly 20 to 30 seconds.
Wider weather episode
A strong cold front swept through Eastern NC late Christmas Eve. Periods of showers and thunderstorms accompanied the cold front, with several storms becoming severe. Strong southerly wind gusts of 60 to 70 mph and minor coastal flooding accompanied the front as well.
