Ice accretion totaled three tenths of an inch three miles northeast of Sparta. Snow and/or sleet amounts were very light. Key Impacts: Slick and slushy roads and sidewalks.

Wider weather episode

Low pressure tracked northeast along the east coast of the U.S. Moisture from this system fell as a wintry mix across parts of North Carolina. Freezing rain impacted the Northern Mountains and Foothill region of North Carolina with ice accretions averaging around one-tenth of an inch to as much as four-tenths of an inch. At the higher end of this range, specific amounts included three-tenths at near Sparta, one-quarter inch near Baldwin, one-quarter inch near Aho, and four-tenths of an inch at North Wilkesboro. Light amounts of sleet and/or snow also fell during this event. Key Impacts: Slick and slushy roads and sidewalks, downed trees and power lines.
