Event narrative
Light snow overspread the area on the afternoon of January 25th. A transition to a freezing rain, freezing drizzle, and sleet occurred the night of January 25th and extending into January 26. Snow and sleet accumulations totaled less than an inch. Ice accretions of 0.10 to 0.20 inches were reported resulting in some slide offs along with some power outages.
Wider weather episode
A mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow affected much of the area on January 25 and 26th. The highest snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches where observed across extreme northwest Indiana. Ice accretions of between 0.10 and 0.20 inches were also reported across portions of northeast Indiana. The wintry mix led to hazardous travel conditions along with some instances of power outages due to ice accretion.
