Thunderstorms initiated during the mid afternoon hours on May 13th along a surface trough of low pressure, draped over the western Sandhills. As storms tracked southeast into more favorable moisture, they became severe with large hail and damaging winds. Hail up to 2 inches in diameter and thunderstorm wind gusts up to 74 MPH were reported during the late afternoon and evening hours.
