Event narrative

Exceptional(D4) drought continued across the northern half of the zone, while the south remained in Extreme(D3) drought. The Mountain Park Cooperative Observer reported only a trace of precipitation which was 0.84 inches below normal.

Wider weather episode

Very little to no precipitation fell across southern New Mexico in May which kept all areas in Severe(D2) to Exceptional(D4) drought.
