The entire zone remained in Exceptional(D4) drought through the entire month. The Cloudcroft Cooperative Observer reported 0.22 inches of precipitation which was 1.00 inch below normal.

Wider weather episode

Very little to no precipitation fell across southern New Mexico in May which kept all areas in Severe(D2) to Exceptional(D4) drought.
