A marine thunderstorm wind gust of 42 mph / 36 knots was recorded by the Weatherstem Mesonet station NPLSRn located at the Naples Grande Beach Resort in Vanderbilt Beach.
Wider weather episode
A plume of deep tropical moisture associated with a mid-level trough advected westward across South Florida from the Bahamas. During peak heating in the afternoon, thunderstorms developed across the Gulf Coast. One of these storms produced a strong wind gust as it moved offshore.
