By May 21st, 244 streets were impassable due to previous days high water from coatal flooding. The worst flooding was reported by 1800 LST May 20th with 2017 flooding streets, which was also at the time the local gauge reported the highest water levels.
Wider weather episode
Strong east-southeasterly pressure gradient flow between a strong high pressure over the mid-Atlantic and a weak surface low in the northwestern Gulf led to several days of coastal flooding across southern Mississippi. Reports varied from each day, with the most impacts during high tide cycles.
