Strong thunderstorm winds knocked down utility poles and wires down onto the roadway.

Wider weather episode

A cold front swept through Central New York with multiple storms forming along it. Many storms became severe due to instability ahead of the front, resulting in multiple reports of trees and wires down. A mesonet stations measured a wind gust of 51 knots as a storm passed overhead.
