Event narrative

The month started with Extreme(D3) drought west and Severe(D2) drought east. By the end of the month, the northern half was in Severe(D2) drought and Moderate(D1) drought south. The Mountain Park Cooperative Observer reported 4.11 inches which was 0.52 inches above normal.

Wider weather episode

Near to above average rainfall helped to improve drought conditions over most of southern New Mexico, especially closer to the Texas border region and the Sacramento Mountains.
